Class 1 – Explosives

Placards

For Divisions 1.1, 1.2, or 1.3, enter division number and compatibility group letter, when required; placard any quantity.
In addition to complying with 49 CFR §172.519, the background color on the EXPLOSIVES 1.1, EXPLOSIVES 1.2, and EXPLOSIVES 1.3 placards must be orange. The symbol, text, numerals and inner border must be black.

The placards must be as follows:

Labels

In addition to complying with 49 CFR §172.407, the background color on the EXPLOSIVE 1.1, EXPLOSIVE 1.2 and EXPLOSIVE 1.3 labels must be orange. The “**” must be replaced with the appropriate division number and compatibility group letter. The compatibility group letter must be the same size as the division number and must be shown as a capitalized Roman letter. In addition to complying with 49 CFR §172.519, the background color on the EXPLOSIVES 1.4 placard must be orange. The division numeral, 1.4, must measure at least 64 mm (2.5 inches) in height. The text, numerals and inner border must be black.
