Potassium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH, and is commonly called caustic potash. Along with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), KOH is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications, most of which utilize its caustic nature and its reactivity toward acids. About 2.5 million tonnes were produced in 2023. This chart shows whether loading, transport, or storage with other hazard classes is permitted, prohibited, or restricted. Based on 49 CFR §177.848.
Note: In this segregation and separation chart are HazMat of hazard class 8 considered depending if there are liquid. Currently HazMat Tool is not able to to check if a HazMat is liquid or not. Therefore it is assumed as liquid. See PHMSA Interpretation #09-0252.
